Will Red Dead Redemption 2 feature several playable characters?

Rockstar Games have officially confirmed the news. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a thing and it’s coming in fall 2017. We can expect the reveal trailer on October 20 (that’s this Thursday) at 11 AM ET. The official description reads:

Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.

However, only the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions have been confirmed. Rockstar have been known for making PC players wait (sometimes forever, like it was in the case of the first RDR). Let’s hope that similarly to GTA V this next game will eventually hit PC too.

Original news

Step by step Rockstar have been heating up the expectactions around the next installment in their Red Dead series. First, they teased a red Rockstar logo on their official website, and the other day they shared a picture with seven cowboys walking towards the setting sun (see below), which brings immediate connotations with the Wild West-based action-game series. This new hint, however, is even more obvious, as Take-Two Interactive registered the reddead.online domain, as spotted by a Twitter user. The domain was created back in August 2015 and last updated on February 2016, but this clearly indicates that the company has plans for this IP.

This is a picture Rockstar shared. The Magnificent Red Dead Seven?

The question is, what will the next Red Dead game be? Will it be a brand new game with a strong online component, perhaps like Grand Theft Auto V’s GTA Online? That seems the most plausible option, much more than a multiplayer-only Red Dead Online. Still, there are many people – especially the PC players – who would love to see Red Dead Redemption remastered for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. We can’t wait for an official announcement, which may come any time now – actually, ex-Tech Radar Hugh Langley claims to have learned from a reliable source that the game will get a trailer this Thursday or earlier.
