Become a Viking-killing beast in Project Wight, a game by Battlefield 3 and PayDay 2 developer

Vikings killing beasts already sounds good enough, but Project Wight gets even better, letting you become a deadly monster hunting the Norse warriors. See what David Goldfarb, a key developer of Battlefield 3 and PayDay 2, has been up to lately.

David Goldfarb – Battlefield 3 lead designer and PayDay 2 game director – has revealed what he has been working on recently in his indie studio The Outsiders. His upcoming first-person game, codenamed Project Wight, will be set in an alternative version of the early Viking era, where humans share Earth with an intelligent race of deadly creatures. Interestingly, it is one of these creatures that the player will become in the game. Young and vulnerable at the beginning, the beast will become a true killing machine at later stages of evolution. Both these phases are teased in the gameplay video:

As you can see, initially, the creature will only be able to avoid human enemies by sneaking in the shadows, jumping to nearby cliffs, and crouching into tight spaces. Later on, however, the tide will turn, and the prey will become the hunter, starting to kill off Vikings. In time the creature will become faster, learn how to glide through the air, give an intimidating roar, and tear its enemies into pieces.

Project Wight is being developed on Unity engine and is already looking quite good. Sadly, no release details have been revealed so far, but we can safely bet PC will be one of its target platforms. Stockholm-based The Outsiders studio was founded in 2015 and it currently counts 12 members. It’s hard to say when they are going to release a playable version of the game or whether it is going to launch in Early Access first.
