Thunder Lotus Games – creators of Jotun, a successful isometric hack-and-slash set in a world inspired by Nordic mythology – are coming back with a second game. This one, called Sundered, is described as “a horrifying fight for survival and sanity, a handdrawn epic” and put under the action horror/replayable Metroidvania genre. The authors have started a crowdfunding campaign for Sundered, asking for a humble amount of CAD 25,000. Even though the game is up on Kickstarter since yesterday, this goal has already been reached and exceeded by several thousand.
Sundered will take us on a terrifying journey through hand-drawn, procedurally generated dungeons and let us explore these environments Metroid-style. Obviously, there will be a lot of fighting (and dying) against hordes of monsters and some massive bosses on the way, featuring action-based combat system. After defeating a boss you will get an Elder Shard, which you can use to corrupt a selected ability – it gets much more powerful then, but that happens at the expense of the hero’s humanity. Sundered is expected to launch in July 2017 on PC and PlayStation 4.
