E3 2015: Ubisoft Announces Ghost Recon: Wildlands – an Open World Shooter

Ubisoft has announced Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the first installment in the titular series, which will have a fully open world. The game has been in development for over three years. Upon its release it will allow to play solo or in four-person co-op.

The icing on the cake of the recently finished Ubisoft’s conference came in the form of presentation of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, the first installment in the titular series in which the players will enjoy a fully open world. The developers themselves admit that this is by far the biggest environment they’ve worked on. Players will be able to traverse it by sea, air or land, using for this purpose vehicles such as helicopters, motorcycles or cars. The shooter takes place in Bolivia, where a drug cartel known as Santa Blanca is responsible for the growing lawlessness and violence. An elite US Special Forces unit is sent behind enemy lines to initiate a diversionary action to eliminate the threat.

Release date of Ghost Recon: Wildlands is still unknown. - 2015-06-16
Release date of Ghost Recon: Wildlands is still unknown.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands will allow us to play solo as well as in a four-person co-op. The gameplay is to be completely non-linear, hence the lack of any scripts. Every choice a player makes will have durable, real consequences reflecting on the game world. Details of the storyline are still unknown, although the gameplay video that you can see at the top of this article may suggest to some degree the structure of at least part of the missions available.

The game will come to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
