As we observe Marvel’s increasing involvement in video games – recently, for instance, we’ve seen Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series and we’re also looking forward to play the upcoming new Spider-Man game by Insomniac – we aren’t too much surprised by the fact that the company is serious about exploring virtual reality. When asked by GameSpot if he sees potential in VR, Jay Ong from Marvel Games said:
Absolutely. In fact, we did a deep dive in looking at the space towards the end of last year, and it offers some pretty incredible opportunities, in terms of delivering really cool experiences. We can't say anything yet, but believe me, we're not shying away from it.
Later he added:
Absolutely expect some announcements in VR, that's something we're really excited about. I think our fans are going to go crazy. The things we're doing there are absolutely amazing.
What exactly Marvel is working on, Ong wouldn’t say. The company isn’t ready to reveal its ongoing VR projects just yet, neither do they want to spill the beans as for when we can expect an announcement. GameSpot didn’t get much more than the classic “soon”. Let’s hope that “soon” means this year’s E3.
