Thieves threaten to reveal Cyberpunk 2077 documents

Players are eager to hear more about Cyberpunk 2077, the next RPG from creators of The Witcher series. Some even don't hesitate to steal the information.

Thieves claim to have stolen Cyberpunk 2077 documentation, CD Projekt RED informed fans in a letter, and are demanding a ransom so they would not post the files online. The studio does not intend to yield to the thieves’ demands and says that the documents come from an early version of their game and are thus outdated and unrepresentative of the current vision of the game – anyone who knows anything about gamedev is surely aware how different an early concept can be from the final product. Still, it would be quite thrilling to take a peek.

Nevertheless, should the files really emerge online, CD Projekt RED advises players not to pay too much attention to them so as not to spoil the experience with the game in any way. Instead, we are asked to wait for official information, which will come in proper time. As for the thieves, they should be aware that their actions will not go without a response – appropriate legal authorities will be informed and take action.
