New York of the 1980s, a cop framed for murder, and dozens of humorous references to old cop movies and TV shows – this is what you can expect from Beat Cop, an upcoming point-and-click adventure game from Polish indie studio Pixel Crow. The game’s publisher, 11 bit studios (the creators of This War of Mine) has announced that Beat Cop is going to hit Steam on March 30, 2017. Another old-school point-and-click that launches on the same date is Thimbleweed Park from the veterans of the genre: Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick.
Ron Gilbert has shared another trailer of Thimbleweed Park, a real old-school point-and-click adventure game. In this video one of the five playable characters in the game – a grumpy clown named Ransome – presents the story of his miserable fate and the eponymous town, a place where “a dead body is the least of your problems”. Overshadowing intrigue, tones of black humor, pixel-art graphics, and SCUMM-like HUD – all these elements make the game look much lik LucasArts classics. Thimbleweed Park is coming out early 2017 on Windows/Linux PC, iOS, Android and Xbox One.
The creators of the cult classic Maniac Mansion, Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, have made it to this year’s gamescom with their upcoming project Thimbleweed Park. Those present in Cologne can play an actual demo of this classic adventure with pixel art graphics, old school puzzles, and a large doze of dark humor. Those who stayed home can have a small share too, by watching a new story trailer.
