Dragon Age senior creative director Mike Laidlaw leaves BioWare

Mike Laidlaw, senior creative director for Dragon Age: Inquisition, has announced that he is leaving BioWare after 14 years.

Mike Laidlaw, senior creative director at BioWare, has announced on Twitter that he is departing from the studio after 14 years. During that time Laidlaw worked on the story for such famous RPGs as Jade Empire, Mass Effect and, most of all, the Dragon Age franchise, on which he had significant impact as the series’ senior creative director. The developer hasn’t said anything about any potential video game projects he may be up to, but he did say what some of his future intentions are:

For the near future, I plan to spend my time reconnecting with all the amazing games and worlds that my peers have created, and I look forward to sharing those experiences with you all on Twitch and Twitter.

Fortunately, Dragon Age won’t be just getting dusty, while Laidlaw is playing other games. The developer expressed confidence that the famous fantasy series remains in good hands, taken care of by the people who would work all this time on the franchise along with Laidlaw. “I’m excited for the road ahead”, he said, regarding Dragon Age. We hope the departure of such a key figure for the franchise won’t hurt it too much.
