Stephen King is also the king of movie adaptations.

We live in good times for all lovers of Stephen King's prose. The writer's books have been a very desirable material for movie adaptations for many years. It is also confirmed by this year's premieres, among which we will see Pet Sematary and It: Chapter Two, which is a sequel of the horror movie from 2017. Meanwhile, Deadline informs that the CBS All Access has ordered a ten-episode long adaptation of The Stand – one of the author's most famous novels.

So far we do not know the exact release date or many other details. However, we know that the director of the show will be Josh Boone, which you can associate with the films The Fault in Our Stars and The New Mutants (premiere in August this year). Ben Cavell, who will be responsible for the screenplay together with Boon, will help him to realize the project. The movie itself will be based on King's 1978 novel of the same title. The story of The Stand takes place after the outbreak of a great epidemic that decimated humanity. The book is considered to be one of the author’s most outstanding achievements, and reading it should be an obligation for every fan of post-apocalypse. All the less surprising are the enthusiastic reactions to the making of the series. The author of the original seems to be excited as well, which we can learn by browsing his posts on Twitter.

Probably not all of you know, that this is not the first attempt to bring The Stand to the silver screen. The novel has already had its TV version, which was produced by ABC in 1994. The production had 4 episodes and it was the last we have seen from The Stand until now. Stephen King can safely be called the author, whose works are one of the most willingly adapted books in the world. Among the films based on his books there are such hits as Carrie, Castle Rock, Dark Tower, Shining or Gerald's Game.
