A gigant on feet of clay?

The Bloomberg news agency reports that Activision Blizzard is likely to lay off many workers next week. There is no specific number of people who will lose their jobs, but it is said that there may be hundreds of them. The mass lay-offs are to be the result of the company trying to restructure and centralise its operations.

Lay-offs will affect employees of all sectors of the company. This will also apply to people working at Blizzard. Can such a turn of events threaten the studio’s upcoming projects? Let's recall that recently the team was looking for people to work on a new title from the Diablo franchise. It is also worth mentioning that at the end of 2017, Activision employed almost ten thousand people.

This is another worrying news from Activision. The last few months have been a real roller coaster for the company. It started well, because Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 sold really well. Later it was only worse. There were reports of bad relations between Activision and Blizzard. Then Activision lost its experienced CFOs. The new man in this position was greeted with a dizzying amount of 15 million dollars. What’s more, after 8 years of cooperation, Bungie parted with Activision, taking the Destiny with them.

The company's capital stock does not look good either. Yesterday their value dropped by 2.5%. Activision intends to publish an official statement next Tuesday. How will the company address the lay-offs and recent events?
