The Witcher 3 still sells great - CD Projekt turns a profit for the last six months

Although Geralt’s story came to an end more than a year ago, CD Projekt is still making a lot of money from the sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and its two add-ons: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine (all included in the Game of the Year Edition). According to the Polish company’s most recent financial raport, CD Projekt had an income of about $72 million (PLN 254.8 million) in the first half of 2017, which translated to net profit of $33.5 million (PLN 118.6 million). The lion’s share of that money comes from the sales of The Witcher 3 and its expansions. The raport also gives a time window for the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

Geralt thanks players for 10 years spent together in this anniversary trailer

CD Projekt RED is celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Witcher game series. To honor this occasion the developer has released a touching “Thank you” video, in which Geralt and his friends reminisce the adventures that they shared with the players throughout all these years. Several of the studio members were also invited for a special PAX West 2017 panel, where they discussed the history of the series with Danny O’Dwyer.

The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition due on August 30, watch the new trailer

The release date of The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition has been set to August 30, 2016, as revealed in the latest trailer. This complete version is going to include the original game with all the mechanics and interface updates it has received since the May 2015 release as well as all free DLCs and two major expansions: Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Taken together, the game and the add-ons offer at around 150 hours of gameplay in a fantasy world filled with dangers and moral ambiguity.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition confirmed

Polish hit action RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to receive a Game of the Year Edition, confirmed CD Projekt RED via Eurogamer. This will include the original game, two expansions – Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine – as well as all free DLCs and updates. Although the developer is not revealing any more details about this version, unofficial sources close to Eurogamer claim that it may be out on August 26, 2016.

The next Witcher 3 patch to fix all major issues

After the release of Blood and Wine expansion early last week, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now complete content-wise. This, however, doesn’t mean that CD Projekt RED are no longer working to further improve the game. The Polish developer is committed to supporting the title so to iron out all bugs still present. According to a twit by the Community Leader, Marcin Momot, the studio is busy working on another patch, which is supposed to address all major reported issues.

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will be around 10–15 GB in size

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine will be around 10 to 15 gigabytes in size, depending on the platform you play on, CD Projekt RED has revealed. Marcin Momot, CDPR’s community lead and website coordinator, also said that a smaller patch for the vanilla Witcher 3 will be released shortly before the said expansion and its size is not included in either of the aforementioned numbers.

CD Projekt Red is getting bigger and looking for new employees for its second studio in Poland

The Kraków-based branch of CD Projekt Red, established in 2013 and best known for The Witcher series, will significantly expand. This news has been revealed by John Mamais, creative director, in a Q&A session put through by the studio itself. As claimed by Mamais, to truly make use of the potential of a project as ambitious as Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red will soon increase the number of employees to 500, and the Kraków-based branch, now consisting of about 30 developers, will expand to 100.

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine may be coming out as soon as this month, as the date May 30, 2016 was spotted on Steam. Other rumors, stemming from a retail chain employee, hint at the date May 31 for Europe. While CD Projekt RED have confirmed neither of these revelations, they had previously said that they wanted to release the second and final expansion to The Witcher 3 prior to this year’s E3, which kicks off on June 14.
