Time for a treat for fans of huge mechs and a competition for MechWarrior 2. EarthSiege 2 is another game set in the Tribes universe. Players participate in a conflict taking place across several continents. Of course the players will not cover this distance on foot - they get to control a giant steel SOB and shoot at any robot with the enemy paint job.
Similarly to MechWarrior - or even Command & Conquer RTS games - debriefs are accompanied by screens with “talking heads”. Both the lines and the acting are fussy, but it has its charm. The combat system delivers good classic battles between steel giants. After the battle, one can pick up scrap for the next missions.
HOW WELL DID IT AGE?
Quite well. Of course, visuals should be displayed in a museum - even though they are still quite aesthetic - but the controls are relatively intuitive and defeating enemy mechs is highly satysfying.
