Rattay – Kingdom Come: Deliverance

  1. What we remember it for? Historical realism and a unique atmosphere, unheard of in other RPGs.
  2. Why is it worth revisiting? To behave a bit differently...
  3. Nostalgia meter: 6/10
  4. Other places of interest: Skalitz, Neuhof

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is proof that you don't need fantasy and dragons to deliver a very good RPG. The Czech creators (responsible, among others, for the first Mafia or the UFO series) focused on realism, historical and beyond, so there are no supernatural or fantastic elements. At first glance, the Warhorse's game doesn't differ from most representatives of the genre, but it quickly turns out to be much more extensive and complicated. Thus, it has a much higher entry threshold and can be discouraging.

The action of this game takes place in 15th-century Central Europe, shortly before the outbreak of the Hussite wars that took place in the Kingdom of Bohemia, Poland and Germany. We play the role of a blacksmith's son – he decides to take revenge on those who razed and ransacked his family village.

A place that is very memorable is Rattay on Sasau. It's one of the initial locations where we can complete the first side quests. As in the entire game, we find a lot of characteristic missions, interesting nooks and crannies, and a lot of Slavic folklore.
