15 Most-Wanted MMORPGs Coming in 2020

MMORPGs aren't dead – quite to the contrary, they're doing pretty well. In this article, we're taking a look at the most interesting projects that should be released between 2020 and 2021.

Lord of the Rings Amazon

  1. We've been waiting for: a year
  2. When it's coming: 2021
  3. Distinguishing features: the world of the Lord of the Rings before the trilogy

Another mysterious production, about which we know next to nothing. A year has passed since we last got any solid info. Back then, it was revealed that the game is being developed not only by the Chinese Anthlon Games, but that the process also includes Amazon Game Studios. The two companies are collaborating to create a new MMORPG built in the Lord of the Rings universe.

The announcements also state the game will be available in free-to-play. The action will take place before the events known from the trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien. Rumor has it that the game will be intertwined with an upcoming TV series, also produced by Amazon. The game won't follow the footsteps of the elderly MMORPG, Lord of the Rings Online. The developers promise a new gaming experience on PC and consoles, which will bring about a small revolution in the genre. I will believe once I see it. The gargantuan wealth of Amazon warrants hope, though. The developers probably don't have to worry about funding.
