The LaserScope looked intimidating and it was quite an interesting project.

If, a dozen years ago, someone imagined a future full of strange helmets, with an augmented-reality eyepiece – then they probably thought of something similar to LaserScope by Konami. The controller was released in 1991 in Japan, during the reign of the NES. It provided voice control (with one command: "fire"), and you could steer the character with head movements.

As you can guess, however, the early voice control had its drawbacks, which took its toll on users of this controller. The point was that LaserScope was very sensitive to environmental sounds that interfered with gameplay.Things looked pretty fine here when it came to games, because the controller had a common compatibility list with the NES Zapper – a pistol-shaped controller. Unfortunately, the helmet itself was not a spectacular success and is rarely mentioned by fans in terms of iconic controllers.
