Martin McDonagh is an excellent director and we know it already - for example, for his work on Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri . This time he returns with a slightly more personal project and wonders how men's inability to talk about their own emotions can affect the relationship between closest friends.

Because it's like this - two closest buddies (played by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) live on an Irish island and do practically nothing in their lives ... except spending time together and drinking beer. When one of them realizes that he hasn't done anything with his life and may soon die, he decides to break off the relationship and focus on himself. As you can guess, it does not work with the second person. And a roller-coaster ride begins...

This story could have happened anywhere. The lost men, instead of going to therapy, [SPOILERS] prefer to threaten each other, cut off fingers, kill donkeys, burn down their houses and punch each other. What's more, The Banshees of Inisherin is first-class, ironic humor and the atmosphere of a hermetic, practically deserted island. Little big movie.
