The Sims have something for everyone. Recently, The Sims 4 was available for free, so the question many of you are probably asking right now is which DLC to get? This article should help you find the best DLC for you.

Table of Contents

Get to Work

  1. Release date: March 31, 2015
  2. DLC type: expansion
  3. Key changes: professions with the ability to open your own business
  4. New ways to kill sims: pressing the red button in the lab
  5. Consider buying if you: want to control the sims' work and keep others behind bars in your secret basement

From the very beginning of The Sims series, sending a sim to work meant removing him from the house for a few hours, when they would come back with their day's pay. Where they went and what were they doing? No one knows. Get to Work changes that, letting us watch the sims being engaged in their daily grind at work. At least in cases of selected professions, but let's not get picky. Available careers include doctors, crazy scientists, and detectives (where you have to collect evidence and accuse the suspect).

Get to Work is a big extension, so it doesn't stop there. If none of the professions seems to work for you, you can make the investment and open your own store. Retailing has slightly more complicated mechanics than you would expect from Sims, but that makes it a challenge, forcing people to hire employees and develop new skills.

"WE'LL GET BACK TO YOU"

Just three occupations may seem a few, but they're all extensive enough to take some hours out of our time. That's not all, though – other DLCs offer additional career paths, fully controlled. Get Famous allows you to become an actor and go to auditions or act in commercials. City Living, in turn, offers competitions for critics, politicians and social media influencers.

For some reason, this expansions also includes aliens and and alien planet. These sneaky folks can shape-shift to look just like regular sims, so be on your guard! Additionally, we have two new skills – baking and photography (you can shoot selfies), clothes and furniture (obvi), and unique items assigned to active occupations – such as a cloning machines and... prison bars. Being a simian kidnapper was never so easy!
