How will Cyberpunk 2077 work on consoles?
Cyberpunk 2077 graphics are hard to comment. We still need to see more gameplay videos. The last year's gameplay, presented at E3 2018, looked very promising, although there was no revolution at all. The graphics looked detailed, but not photo-realistic. A lively city will put a lot of demand on the equipment. New content looks noticeably better, thanks to the implementation of ray tracing technology.
However, we must remember that the final version of the game doesn't have to glare as much as it did during the showcase events – and unfortunately, it usually ends up in a bit worse visuals. For example, The Witcher 3 was literally jaw-dropping during the pre-release shows, but the final version had some limited features. We still remember the famous downgrade of the first part of Watch Dogs and The Division. Even unofficial graphics-enhancing mods were not able to adjust the graphics to the level presented on the preview material.
In the case of Cyberpunk, this is a possible scenario. In the end, the game will be available on multiple platforms. It must work well not only on a powerful PC, but also on the consoles of the passing generation – PS4 and Xbox One. This reminds me of Metro Exodus, which also looked brilliant on trailers and first gameplay fragments. I had a chance to play it on Xbox One and what can I say – it looks "a tiny bit" different...
