What's Dark Pictures: Little Hope?

You can't have too many adventure games, right? This time, we're dealing with the second installment of The Dark Pictures Anthology series. You don't need to know the original, because each part is a stand-alone story, inspired by real events. The first Man of Medan turned out a rather mediocre game, so we hope that Little Hope will do better.

Is the game any scary?

In The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, we follow the stories of four teenagers. Accompanied by their professor, they travel to the town of Little Hope, which is the main venue for the events of the game. At first glance, you can see that something's not right there. Streets are empty, there's strange silence and disturbing fog – the characters quickly discover that Little Hope has been overrun by dark forces. They will also realize that the only hope for rescue is to escape, but getting out of this nightmare will not be easy.

OUR EXPECTATIONS

The first part of The Dark Pictures anthology – Man of Medan – caused much excitement before the premiere (everyone could remember Until Dawn, the previous horror production of Supermassive Games). However, some players were disappointed with the final product – I was not among them. Sure – Man of Medan was hardly outstanding, but it worked well as the interactive equivalent of the average B-grade horror movie. I didn't expect much – and I got a good game, albeit worse than Until Dawn. I expect more excitement and a more interesting plot in Little Hope – and a refinement of the co-op mode that proved to be the Achilles heel of The Dark Pictures. Will the developer deliver? Maybe Little Hope will be the second Until Dawn – but I seriously doubt that, and at least for the moment, I prefer to bet that it will maintain the minimum level of satisfaction provided by Man of Medan.
