Halo Wars

The Halo series is directly associated with Xbox. However, this doesn't change the fact that some games from this series are also available on PC. For some time, even the first Halo Wars can be found on Steam.

What installment is it? A spin-off to the series by Ensemble Studios, the creators of the Age of Empires series. However, instead of creating a typical shooter, the developers decided to introduce a real-time strategy to this universe. Is RTS even possible on consoles? Absolutely, and Halo Wars proved that such a game can be done efficiently and pleasantly.

The earlier Age of Empires 3, however, did not sell as well as expected. The Halo Wars production process, in turn, turned out to be more than turbulent. Ultimately, due to mismanagement and miscommunication, Microsoft decided to close Ensemble Studios while the game was still in development. The management of the corporation decided that Xbox needed games for a more casual, wider audience.
