Finally, one more jRPG – but what a jRPG! This time, the game takes us to the distant future, the city of New Himuka. Turns out scientists unlocked psionic powers in brains using some special hormones. This, sadly, has attracted the attention of the "Others" – no, not the living dead from Game of Thrones, but conventional-weapon-resistant space mutants who seem to find human flesh very tasty. Enter the protagonists – young recruits of a special organization set up to fight the invaders. We have two main characters to chose from – Kasane Randal and Yuito Sumeragin Interestingly, only by completing the game with both characters will you be able to fully understand the plot and learn all its nuances (a bit like in Resident Evil 2).

The multi-layered, complex story can really draw you in, but it's not Scarlet Nexus' only asset. I even venture to say that the most important thing in this game turns out to be the combat. Although the dynamic duels take place in real time – rather than turns, as in the jRPG classics – a knack to strategy will come in handy if you want to be fully prepared. For example, it's a good idea to learn the weaknesses of your opponents in order to know which combinations of melee attacks and special powers work best against particular types. Importantly, it's not enough to be aware of the right ones – you also have to learn how to use them with skill, finding the balance, and not forgetting that Scarlet Nexus this is not a slasher. Nevertheless, the game is quite a challenge, requires a considered character development (Concurrent SAS Activation!) and – when completing the campaign with both characters – will suffice for a few dozen hours of fun.
