What Happened to Heroes of Might and Magic, or Biggest Ubisoft IPs We're Slowly Forgetting

Ubisoft is showering us with new brands and an increasingly diverse catalog of games. It's just that instead of items like XDefiant or Hyper Scape, we'd probably prefer a return of Heroes or Rayman. Here are 10 big franchises that Ubisoft could resurrect.

Table of Contents

Splinter Cell

  1. Genre: action game
  2. How long have we been waiting: 9 years

Another no-brainer and a real classic. And its been in the hands of Ubisoft from the very conception in 2002, which marked the release of a unique stealth game - Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. It had it all - a charismatic hero, a captivating story, quality gameplay that focused on stealth, silenced pistols, the iconic three-scoped nightvision goggles, and the characteristic sound of them activating - this all made up one of the most atmospheric games ever.

A total of 6 installments have been released, with the final one in 2013 being Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Here is what our reviewer thought of it:

So we had returned to stealth action after previously deviated into more casual-friendly action game. However, even if the mechanics were OK, the fans were really unhappy with an introduction of a slightly younger Sam Fisher, who for the first time was voiced by a different actor rather than Michael Ironside. . The outdated graphics and the low difficulty level were also criticized. The sales turned out to be a disappointment, which is probably why Sam Fisher landed in a bin.

Fortunately, this may not be the end. In recent years, we have had various signals that something is starting to happen in this matter. Michael Ironside got to play Sam Fisher again, but it turned out to be a short episode with this hero in Ghost Recon: Wildlands and an announcement that a new game of the series appear, but in VR. Today we know that the VR game won't appear, as Ubisoft deleted it. In both cases, both of the VR title and the small DLC, didn't sate our appetites. Fans are still waiting for a fully-fledged game starring Sam Fisher!
