What Happened to Heroes of Might and Magic, or Biggest Ubisoft IPs We're Slowly Forgetting

Ubisoft is showering us with new brands and an increasingly diverse catalog of games. It's just that instead of items like XDefiant or Hyper Scape, we'd probably prefer a return of Heroes or Rayman. Here are 10 big franchises that Ubisoft could resurrect.

Table of Contents

Brothers in Arms

  1. Genre: tactical action game
  2. How long are we waiting: 14 years (and 8 years since the installment that wasn't developed by Ubisoft)

"Can you survive in the snow?" These words ended the third and last part of the Brothers in Arms series, subtitled Hell's Highway , suggesting that the next adventures of the American troops will take us to Belgium during the Ardennes offensive. It was in 2008 - at that time, WWII shooters started to bore players, with new Call of Duty - Modern Warfare . taking the whole playerbase with it.

It's just that BiA has never been a traditional shooter like Call of Duty or Medal of Honor . The shooting mechanics focused on the use of a flanking maneuver and barrage fire by issuing simple orders to companions. The events presented in the game were based in detail on authentic, single missions from that period. The creators even carefully recreated the locations where the fights took place. The plot, was very serious, touching on topics such as post-traumatic stress disorder and the general mental health of young soldiers who encountered the horrors of war.

It is thanks to this mature approach that the series stood out from the crowd, was warmly received and was remembered by everyone for a long time. Every now and then we hear about Brothers in Arms coming back, but first it turned out to be some kind of comedy pastiche imitating the movie Inglorious Basterds - luckily, Furious 4 was deleted before its premiere.

After a few other rumors and leaks, the good news is that the new Brothers in Arms is reportedly actually being created . This information was revealed in September 2021 by Randy Pitchford, head of the Gearbox Software studio, who was responsible for this series from the beginning. However, we will have to wait a long time for more details. Will Ubisoft be the publisher again? Everything indicates that it will. Brothers in Arms is to return in the form of a TV series, one of the producers of which is Ubisoft Pictures. We received such news in 2020, anyway. I guess there is something to wait for!
