Obscure Witcher Games No One Heard About

A side-scroller, a League of Legends-style MOBA, a browser-based battle game – the story of the digital Witcher encompasses much more titles than we usually think, many of them forgotten despite the great success of the Wild Hunt.

  1. Genre: digital board game

  3. Platforms: PC, iOS, AND
  4. Still available: yes.

The Witcher Adventure Game debuted in late 2014 as an attempt to capitalize on the interest in the upcoming Wild Hunt. It was a digital adaptation of the board game of the same title by CD Projekt RED, developed by the creator of board games and RPGs by Polish creator Ignacy Trzewiczka (including Robinson Crusoe: Adventure on the Cursed Island and Neuroshima). The title actually managed to generate some interest, but today, hardly any fans of digital boards remember it, preferring to indulge in Carcassonne or even Ticket to Ride.

The game allows you to play as Geralt, Triss, Yarpen or Glaucus – each character has unique skills and imposes a slightly different strategy. What's nice for a board game, is that the gameplay is heavily based on plot and involves performing successive tasks strongly embedded in the universe. Travelling on a board full of iconic locations, we fight monsters, win gold and interact with other players.

The Witcher Adventure Game's appeal comes from graphics, a good use of the universe, and the overall fun, the main problem being that the game quickly shows you everything it has. That's probably why players' interest in the title has waned quite soon. on the other hand, you can get him for a song in various promotions, so if you have someone to play with and you like Sapkowski's, it's worth giving it a spin. The digital version is much cheaper and easier to get than the analog edition (all copies of which are long gone from official distribution).
