Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons will first surprise you with an unusual control scheme, which requires controlling two characters simultaneously, whily keeping them closely coordinated. It's such an ingenious way to emphasize the special bond that exists between the siblings. What's left is a wild, emotional ride, because the game can severely damage our psyche, squeezing many tears in the process. The goal of the brothers' journey alone is touching – they're looking for a medicine for their dying father.
But their journey is also an allegory of growing up, facing difficult situations that children generally shouldn't face. On their way, the protagonists encounter the beauty of the world, but also things that are terrible and extremely painful. Willy-nilly, it's the worst images that are the most memorable, the most depressing – enough to warrant calling Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons one of the saddest games out there.
