Table of Contents

Scenes From a Marriage

  1. Quest type: main
  2. What I love about this quest: Amazing atmosphere, an interesting (and scary) boss, and a really difficult choice at the end – it's the perfect quest
  3. Rating: 10/10

Scenes From a Marriage is a quest in the Hearts of Stone expansion. This one is considered by many players as the best quest in the entire game and one of the most interesting stories in the history of RPGs. There's pretty much everything you need to create a good story: a constant feeling of tension, very interesting locations with the excellent haunted house, great dialogues and unique enemies.

The character of the Caretaker – the boss of this quest, made an incredibe impression on me. This was a very unique opponent for this game, and the fight itself was well-conceived and offered a lot of interesting mechanics. In addition, I followed the story of Iris and Olgierd with bated breath, and deciding what to do with the rose was one of the most difficult choices in the entire Witcher 3. Even though the entire quest lasted maybe two hours, it got me very emotional and completing it felt like finishing a separate game.

I also couldn't shake the feeling that the developers had done something special. Instead of deciding on a sequence of several cutscenes that could build up the tension, they realized this quest almost entirely from the player's perspective, without losing the great atmosphere of horror straight from Silent Hill even for a moment.
