Smash Hits Inbound! The Best Upcoming Games of 2020

The gaming world is beginning to wake up from the pandemic lethargy. The number of releases that will flood us starting from late summer is really impressive. Here are the most interesting games we're expecting in the last months of 2020.

Table of Contents

Cyberpunk 2077

  1. Release date: November 19
  2. Genre: action RPG
  3. Platforms: PC Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One

If you don't already know what Cyberpunk 2077 is...

It's hard to believe that anyone might not have heard of Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but just in case, we remind you that this is the upcoming game by CD Projekt RED – the creators of The Witcher 3. This time, the action will move to a completely different universe – the cyberpunk metropolis of Night City, and the action will be shown from a first-person perspective.

It was based on Mike Pondsmith's tabletop RPG - Cyberpunk 2020. We'll get a lot of immersive story missions that can be done in a number of ways, futuristic implants, the ability to drive cars around Night City, and an interesting story full of vivid characters. At least these are, quite large, expectations for the authors of The Witcher.

What to expect from Cyberpunk 2077?

It will certainly be one of the most important games of the year. Will it be the best? Will it set the standard for the future? That, of course, is impossible to tell yet and it is really worth approaching this game with some precaution. The creators have set themselves a high bar with The Witcher 3, and Cyberpunk can take a bit of a hit from that, only because of the high hopes that are placed in it. It is known that it will definitely be a game worth testing, getting acquainted with, regardless of its pros and cons. Fingers crossed for the November release date!

WHY AM I WAITING?

It's quite remarkable that everything has been said about Cyberpunk, even though it hasn't even made its debut yet. On the other hand, CDP Red devs don't make the job easier for journalists, because they keep delaying the release. I don't have a big problem with that – to be honest, I'm going to accept even a bugged game. However, I hope that Polish creators will step up and release a game rich in content. I would like to have a world where every NPC has its own story and every street has a unique character. Night City must be vibrant, neon lights should shine like never before. That is why I am a little worried by reports that there is a certain division of the map into populated and quest-rich areas and empty areas where all we see are randomly generated cars. In short, I'm not counting on a masterpiece, but a little immersion has never hurt anyone.

WHY AM I WAITING?

More than seven years of waiting for the release of one game – not just any game, but one created by CD Projekt RED! No wonder that players want to see Cyberpunk 2077 as the messiah of the industry – one who will set ultra-modern standards of gameplay and take gaming to a whole new level. I, on the other hand, think (without being alone in my opinion) that the new work of the Polish creators will be, by today's standards, only a solid game. But that's enough for me. Today, after all, we know (or rather we infer from press screenings) that shooting in the game is only moderately' cool', and vehicles move like soaps. So it's silly to expect a game that will knock your socks off. Fortunately, I'm also aware that CDP Red can be trusted in terms of the atmosphere and plot – as evidenced by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. So if they don't mess up this element – and they most certainly won't – then it is still worth not revoking the pre-order ordered more than a year ago.
