What's Lust from Beyond?
Movie Games Lunarium studio decided to release a sequel to Lust for Darkness, an erotically infused adventure game. In Lust from Beyond, we take on the role of antiquarian Victor Holloway, plagued by visions of a bleak realm of pleasure and pain. To find an explanation for what he sees, he decides to join the Cult of Ecstasy, where he learns how to get into the Lusst'ghaa dimension. It is there that we will find the answers to all his questions.
Is Lust from Beyond scary?
Lust from Beyond attempts to combine eroticism with fear in a unique way. On the one hand, we visit a Victorian-era mansion, and on the other, we find ourselves in a disturbing realm of Lusst'ghaa. The crux of the entertainment will be conversations, collecting items and information. What's interesting, however, is that in this installment, the creators decided to introduce the possibility of fighting enemies, not just sneaking around them. There will be dialogue on top of that, and the sex and horror itself have been cranked up off the scale. We'll see what comes of it!
Our expectations
I knew Lust for Darkness wasn't a high-budget project and its creators aren't in the developer major league, but I was still kinda disappointed. A short, not particularly atmospheric, simplish game that didn't make very good use of erotica and space horror (other than making them a selling point). But the last scene was cool. So I believe that there's still potential lurking somewhere to be tapped into in the sequel. The graphics are prettier, the gameplay appears to be a bit more interesting (there will be dialogues!), and the themes of sex and fear are to be given a solid boost. If they hit the 7/10 mark this time, it will be a success.
