What kind of game is this?

Fall Guys are certainly one of the biggest surprises of 2020, right next to the aforementioned Among Us. This game was announced as early as in 2019, but few people remembered about it by the time of its release. And while Mediatonic's Fall Guys won't take no prizes for the fairly infantile graphic design, the game does have that special ingredient that drew millions of players.

The premise is quite simple – about 60 players has to complete a set of rounds on an obstacle course. To make it to the final, we have to constantly better most opponents (e.g. reach the finish line before them, or beat them in a match). But in the final itself, there is no room for mistakes – you simply have to win the competition.

What made the players like this game so much?

Same as with Among Us, the success of Fall Guys can be largely contributed to streamers. I can't say whether the appearance of this production on streaming was due to pure curiosity or was simply paid advertising – either way, the idea ultimately worked. Audiences wanted more Fall Guys in streams (it was difficult to access during the closed beta), and the streamers seemed to really enjoy the production. The addictive gameplay and seemingly simple rules were enough to get more people interested in the game. The game is doing well, especially considering that it's not free; August data shows the game was purchased by more than 2 million PC users, and in September, the SuperData analytics group said that Fall Guys actually had the most profitable release on PC since Overwatch.
