After the well-received Dragon Age: Origins, BioWare faced a huge challenge. The creators had to make a game that would not only satisfy the appetites of the fans, but also surprise us with something new. The first part of the task was rather failed – the second Dragon Age turned out to be underdeveloped in almost every respect. This doesn't mean that it's a weak RPG, but it simply doesn't stand out above the average of the genre. All Canadians really achieved was introducing expressive, likeable characters into the universe.
One of them is Cassandra. The aristocrat, who was even in the line for the throne (though she admittedly wasn't the first in that line), enjoyed exuberant luxury in her early childhood. Her brother Antoni was allowed to follow the path of the warrior, and Cassandra could only watch his doing. When she was only 12 years old, blood mages killed Antoni before her eyes. The girl promised to avenge him. Due to the pressure of her family, however, she became a seeker of truth, with time rejecting the desire for revenge and giving up all noble privileges to devote herself fully to service.
She eventually became the Right Hand, one of the most important people in the entire universe. She saved the life of the Divine Beatrice and repeatedly risked everything for the raison d'etat. During the events unfolding in Dragon Age 3, she wasn't afraid to make the difficult decision to establish the Inquisition and defended the protagonist to the end. This brave warrior might even become the next God, Victoria, and then rule the entire nation.
Liara T'soni is another of the brave heroines of BioWare games. The Canadian studio allowed her to go through a huge transformation – from a shy researcher to a powerful Shadow Merchant. And although she is not a party member in the second installment of Mass Effect, she is one of the most important figures in this universe, helping in the fight against the Reapers from behind the scenes.
Jack can be accused of being a typical rebellious "teenager," realizing her fantasies of being a heroine alongside Shepard. And that's in part true. But the girl repeatedly risks her life for the cause, gradually turning from a disobedient merc to a responsible and determined fighter, and eventually even a teacher.
