The world of The Last of Us 2 is filled with details and morsels that are easy to miss even when you're very careful, and which make the presented world much more believable and impressive.

There are no heroes, only people

A lot of the details are also related to the protagonist of The Last Of Us 2. For example, we may notice subtle differences in Ellie's appearance and behavior in story proper and in flashbacks. During the main missions the (anti)hero has a distinctive tattoo on her arm – in the flashbacks, we can see it either unfinished or completely absent. We can also notice her skills with the gun have improved over time – in the present, Ellie does not hold her finger on the trigger of a gun when she is not aiming at anyone; in the past, there was no such distinction. The present version of Ellie has, for example, a rogue strand of hair that constantly falls on her face, and she often fixes it. During the farm section of the game, the girl is also reluctant to look in the mirror.

A frequently repeated allegation about the previous games from Naughty Dog (and especially the original The Last of Us) was that the NPCs were completely invisible to enemies, even if they were standing right in front of them. This time the element was corrected. It's rare, but our comrades can get spotted and get into a fight with the enemy. They'll also apologize for being careless. We can also irritate them in a funny way – by shining a flashlight over their eyes we will make them cover their eyes. All characters squint their eyes when they aim.

On the first day in Seattle, if we line up so Ellie can't see Dina, we can see our companion rubbing her belly gently. By turning around at this point, we will make her stop this activity quickly and act as if nothing ever happened.

Abby is also full of unique details. During the game, we learn that the woman suffers from a fear of heights and it is not just chatter. If we ever stand over any higher drop and move the camera to look down, then Abby will start shaking in terror and a distinctive filter will be applied to the image.

Finally, it is worth mentioning a character we only meet for a brief while. Walking through the streets of Jacksonville, we come across a dog and an elderly man sitting in a chair playing an instrument. The character is actually a rendition of Gustavo Santaolalla, the composer of the game's score. If we take a closer look at him, we will notice that the movements of his hand on the instrument correspond to the sounds he makes.
