The Worst Games of 2021 - Very Non-definitive Edition

The awards ceremony for the best games of the year is over. But what about the worst? Since there's still no equivalent of the Golden Raspberries for games, let's use our list of the most disappointing releases of the past year as a guide.

Destruction AllStars

  1. Released: February 2
  2. Developer: Lucid Games
  3. Platform: PlayStation 5
  4. Average rating on Metacritic: 62/100

Dozens of cars to choose from, drivers like from a hero shooter, and a great arena to compete in online battles. That's games like the iconic Destruction Derby and the ever-popular Rocket League or OnRush. Destruction AllStars did not promise to be revolutionary, but it was supposed to be one of the first exclusive titles for the PlayStation 5 console, taking advantage of increased power, as well as the haptic functions of the DualSense gamepad. It didn't work out all that great.

The premiere, which was initially supposed to take place with the debut of the console, was delayed by several months. The game was immediately delegated to the PS Plus subscription – officially to ensure the right number of people for multiplayer games. On the other hand, it's a bit as if you didn't believe in selling it well from the onset. And although there were slightly more favorable reviews on the web, the game was mostly accused of shallowness, boredom, clumsy controls, poorly implemented gameplay modes and – worse – very expensive microtransactions. As a free bonus to check with the new console, it was OK; as an item worth recommending and staying with it for longer, not so much.
