What Will Happen in Video Games Industry in 2020

We asked our staff not about lottery numbers, or a way to avoid traffic jams, but about what we can expect from the gaming industry in 2020. Things should be quite interesting with the advent of next generation, some great games, and perhaps VR 2.0!

Welcome back, Witcher

April 16, 2020 is a red-letter day, if we've ever seen one. If there are no delays, CD Projekt RED will release to the world its newest creation they've been developing since 2012 – Cyberpunk 2077. And this, in addition to the fact that we will eventually get our hands on the long-awaited game, also means that the team will be able to throw their main production capacity on another big project of AAA class, which is probably already sometime in the early stages of production.

The story of Geralt ends, the story of Ciri begins?

The premiere of this mysterious project in 2020 is, of course, unreal, but we can expect to learn a lot more about it during the coming year. And almost certainly this will be The Witcher 4. CDPR has already made it clear several times that they intend to return to this world, and now will be the best time to do it again in a high-budget game – rather than another uncertain side project.

So chances are that 2020 will not only be the year of the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, but also the first information about the next Witcher. Probably without Geralt – according to the studio, his story is already complete, and he won't be the protagonist (may appear otherwise). But maybe it will be Ciri. Or a completely new character created by the player.
