8.9 Game Score
The debut production of the independent studio Fiddlesick, combining elements of platformer and logic game. While playing, we assume the role of the eponymous hero whose task is to find his lost mother. The path to his goal is a bumpy one because his mother, a lady scientist who deals with color research, got lost somewhere in a monochromatic world. In the game, we traverse vast, single-colored maps, avoiding various obstacles and solving puzzles based mostly on color manipulation. The protagonist has the ability to change the background colors in a given location, thanks to which we can, for instance, neutralize traps, create platforms, interact with items, and unblock the way to previously unavailable places. Hue bases on the structure typical to the metroidvania genre — while exploring, we find blocked paths to which he can come back to after we have obtained necessary skills.

Vector 2 (AND)
7.9 Game Score
Continuation of the original auto-run platformer that was the first major success of Russian independent studio Nekki. Plot of Vector 2 continues the storyline of the original and takes us back to the dreary world of the future, in which the eye of Big Brother keeps track of all actions of the people. Protagonist known from the first installment was eventually captured by security forces, but, instead of killing him, they decided to use his skills to test some new equipment in a secret research facility. In comparison with the original, game mechanics have not changed significantly and the gameplay boils down to overcoming successive levels with gradually learned parkour tricks. The game features also completely new locations and enemies, new types of obstacles and pitfalls, as well as a large set of additional gadgets to unlock.

7.0 Game Score
Very unique two-dimensional platformer from the independent developer PlayDead. We play as a small boy who sets on dangerous journey to save his sister. He traverses surrealistic landscapes, coming across many deadly traps and running away from monstrous spider, which follow him tirelessly. In terms of gameplay, Limbo borrows from classic platform titles, though not without adding a few original features. The games revolves around advanced physics, which plays crucial role in most puzzles and arcade sequences, during which the players must display quick reflexes. What stands out the most, however, is Limbo’s unique, mysterious and grim atmosphere, mainly coming from its audiovisuals. Sparse use of sound and graphics, consisting only of shades of black and white, makes it look like a work of a movie expressionist from the beginning of 20th century.

To confirm his suspicions, he decides to sneak into his home, which won’t be easy since the man is incredibly alert and will stop at nothing to protect his privacy. The goal is to infiltrate the neighbor’s house undetected. Decoys and other distractions are helpful in turning the attention away from us. The primary element of gameplay is the advanced artificial intelligence that lets the neighbor remember the player’s actions and thus foresee his future ones. The paths that we take most frequently are quickly armed with numerous traps and alarms so the game requires creativity and flexibility to be won.
