Mount & Blade does not offer a story campaign, rather giving the player the freedom of shaping his adventures.

The action was again set in the Middle Ages, and the player plays the role of a feudal magnate, who after the king's death becomes a rival for the crown. Gameplay is a combination of turn-based strategy and real time (RTS).

The originator of the project is Neal Stephenson, an American science fiction writer and white weapon lover. Financing for production was obtained, among others, through the Kickstarter platform.
