Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wing Diver The Shooter is a spin-off of the Earth Defense Force series, developed and released by D3 Publisher. Unlike games representing the main series, which are TPP shooters, this time we are dealing with a classic shoot'em up.

Story

Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wing Diver The Shooter takes place several months after the events presented in Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair. The eponymous Earth Defense Force, an organization trying to stop the invasion of alien insects on Earth, has just introduced new models of jetpacks. Members of the Pale Team equipped with them were put on standby when the plan to destroy the enemy mothership fails and the hordes of smaller and larger enemies set off to counter-attack. The task facing the unit is to deal with the threat once and for all.

Mechanics

In Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wing Diver The Shooter we observe the action from a top-down perspective. The game consists of six extensive missions, in which our main goal is to eliminate hordes of opponents using a varied arsenal - among the more than sixty weapons available, there are both completely new ones and tools known from the previous installments of Earth Defense Force, such as Rapier, Ixion, LAZR or Plasma Launcher, complemented by power-ups that increase our combat potential.

During the game, we are faced with smaller adversaries in large numbers (such as black and red ants, bees or spiders), as well as more powerful specimens acting as bosses (such as the queen of ants and the giant Retiarius spider). The gameplay is enriched by the so-called "Shoot Up Times", i.e. the moments when we stop are tasked with taking down hosts of enemies coming from all sides. It is worth mentioning that we are not alone during the struggle - on the battlefield we are accompanied by other members of the Pale Team, as well as other EDF soldiers; cooperation with them is often the key to success.

Game modes

Although there is no multiplayer mode in Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wing Diver The Shooter, a substitute for the multiplayer competition comes in the form of online rankings, thanks to which we can not only show off our achievements but also compare them with the results achieved by players from all over the world.

The visuals of Earth Defense Force 4.1: Wing Diver The Shooter present an average level of workmanship - this applies to both environmental elements and enemy models.
