Gunbrella Description
Gunbrella is an action platformer by Doinksoft, also known for Gato Roboto and Devolver Bootleg. It was published by Devolver Digital.
Plot
Gunbrella is set in a retrofuturistic world, the resources of which are depleting at an alarming rate. The game's protagonist is a vengeful woodsman. During his investigation, he ends up entangled in a huge intrigue involving exploitative corporations, the law enforcements, gangsters and even ghouls.
Mechanics
Gunbrella is a side-scroller. The player must proceed through diverse locations, such as the junkyard fortress of a ruthless trash gang, a city threatened by cultist abductions and the mythical Avalon.
As we traverse the stages, we'll fight lots of minor enemies, powerful bosses and terrain obstacles. Our primary tool is the titular gunbrella, a multi-purpose umbrella containing numerous guns. In its gun form (a rifle, a shotgun, a grenade launcher or others) we'll use it to mow down hordes of enemies, while in its brella form it can be used to glide, go down ziplines and dive.
As we progress through the game, we learn more about its world, inhabitants (the protagonist writes down the most interesting facts in his notebook) and acquire resources we can exchange for ammo or upgrades, increasing our combat capabilities.
Technical aspects
Gunbrella features simple, pixel art visuals.
