Insane Robots Description
Insane Robots is a turn-based strategy game with card game’s and RPG’s features created by an independent studio Playniac.
Plot
The main hero of Insane robots is a robot called Franklin, whose memory has been cleared as a punishment for an unknown crime. What’s more, the protagonist is sentenced to fight for his life with other machines. The protagonist must find out who and why passed a judgment on him, but he also must lead the rebellion and overthrow a cruel tyrant Kernel.
Game mechanics
Insane Robots’ gameplay consists of two parts. The first is an exploration of procedurally generated locations (jungles, moon deserts and more) covered with hexes. The other comes in form of one on one battles – when we meet an enemy, we are taken to a separate arena.
Battles are turn-based and use similar rules to card games; we use chips (cards) by spending a certain amount of energy. We start a duel with five empty slots and try to fill them with two chips for both attacking and defending (two chips of each type must be placed for each of them to work) and one for a special chip that grants us an additional skill. We can attack after collecting both chips and enough energy to use them, and our objective is to reduce an opposing robot’s health points to zero before he can do the same to us.
As we progress through the game, not only we gain access to more chips to create our dream deck, but also forty-five other robots (each with different strong and weak points) and over a hundred augments.
Game modes
Aside from the single-player campaign consisting of eight tournaments, Insane Robots offers a multiplayer mode, both online and as a Hotseat mode.
Technical aspects
Two-dimensional visuals of Insane Robots use a cartoonish and colorful style.
