Mechabellum Description
Mechabellum is an auto battler in which we lead squads of mechs to battle. It was developed by the independent studio Game River and published by Paradox Arc (a branch of Paradox Interactive, dedicated to helping indie developers create and publish their games).
Plot
Mechabellum is set in a science-fiction universe, more specifically - on a newly colonized planet aptly called Far-Away. We play as a mech squadron commander, tasked with facing our competition and seizing as much territory as possible.
Mechanics
The gameplay of Mechabellum revolves around battles between mech squads. Each mech has its own strengths and weaknesses, which means the player must build their squads thoughtfully to make sure the units complement each other. We can also customize the combat capabilities of each individual machine according to our needs and preferences. The player can make use of light, agile but frail units such as the Wasp fighter, or powerful, durable but slow machines such as the giant Vulcan.
After creating our small army we must deploy it and start the battle. We can't control the mechs directly. Nevertheless, we can still influence the course of battles by calling in air strikes or swarms of small bots as reinforcements; using these abilities skillfully can tip the scale in our favor.
Game modes
Although Mechabellum is fully playable in singleplayer, battling against AI-controlled units, the game was mostly designed around competitive and co-operative multiplayer.
Technical aspects
The visuals of Mechabellum are colorful and easily readable. The mech designs and particle effects accompanying gunfire are especially appealing.
