Oddworld Series
A series of platform adventure games set on the title planet, inhabited by friendly Mudokons. The Oddworld Inhabitants development team is responsible for the creation and development of the brand, with support from Digital Dialect, Saffire and Just Add Water studios. "Godparents" of the series Oddworld are Lorne M. Lanning and Sherry McKenna. The first installment of the series - Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - was released in 1997 in the version for PC and PlayStation console. The production was well received by adventure game fans, as evidenced by the average reviewer rating of 85/100 (according to metacritic.com). This encouraged the developers to develop the idea into a full-fledged series. The main games in the series include: Oddworld: Abe's Oddyse (1997), Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (1998), Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee (2001) i Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath (2005). In addition, over the course of more than 23 years, the developers were also tempted by a number of ports aimed at portable consoles (e.g. Oddworld Adventures) as well as remastered versions and bundles. The most important attempt to refresh the series was the game released in 2014 Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty. The production was a remake of the first installment from 1997. The developers managed to maintain the characteristic atmosphere of the original, while improving the mechanics, which were already a bit clumsy at the time. The most important changes were the introduction of the option to communicate with several Mudokons at the same time and the inclusion of a previously absent fast save option. The success of the production prompted the developers to develop plans for the restoration of subsequent parts. As a result, a premiere has been announced for the end of 2020 for PC, PS4 and PS5 Oddworld: Soulstorm, loosely based on the second installment of the 1998 game Abe's Exoddus. The title presents an even darker and more terrifying view of the world and is a direct sequel to New N' Tasty, both in terms of storyline and using the gameplay mechanics that were improved in it.
