Video Games Encyclopedia by Gamepressure.com

A list of Released video games for PC sorted by release date.

PC (Personal computer) - one of the most popular home platforms and the only one which doesn’t offer playing video games as its main purpose. PC was born in the 1970s, but it is impossible to give an exact moment of its birth or even a name of its creator. However, IBM is the one who gave computers their present shape, using, at the beginning of the 1980s, an idea of open architecture – which is today one of the most important differences between computers and consoles.

The foundations of PC as a gaming platform are currently systems of digital distribution of video games (Steam, Origin, Uplay) and MMO games that mostly work in f2p (free-to-play) model.

Kingdom: Two Crowns (PC)
Kingdom: Two Crowns (PC)

Strategy 11 December 2018

Another incarnation of a minimalistic real-time strategy with RPG elements, developed by an independent studio called noio. Like in the original Kingdom for PC Windows and mobile devices, in Kingdom: Two Crowns, the player assumes the role of a king tasked with taking care of his loyal subjects and providing for them. Unlike the original release, in Kingdom: Two Crowns the player can enjoy both single player and cooperative game modes. During the game, one observes the action from the side perspective. Gameplay revolves around two main aspects – the first one being exploration (during which one can acquire gold they can give to the encountered settlers), while the second one focuses on expanding the settlement by erecting production buildings, creating tools for the settlers, and building diverse fortifications, which prove useful after dusk. During the night, one’s domain is attacked by vicious trolls and the player has to pay careful attention to their crown, because when it falls into enemy hands, the game is over. Luckily, the player can unlock numerous perks on their adventures to stand a better chance against the increasingly powerful foes. The game features simple, yet pleasing pixel-art visuals.

Clinically Dead (PC)
Clinically Dead (PC)

Logic 06 December 2018

An unusual production by Pawel Mogila from Mogila Games. The title features elements characteristic for logic, action, platform, and even stealth games. You assume the role of Samson who, as the title outright states, is clinically dead. This means that for him, the time has stopped – due to that, he can contemplate his whole life. This translates into traveling through surreal places, which symbolize the hero’s mind, and talking with his own subconsciousness. In Clinically Dead, the action is presented from the first-person perspective. Logic puzzles are the backbone of the game – you need to manipulate time, represented by multi-colored stains on the environment elements. Your job is to maneuver these objects so that they adjust correctly at the right moment, which unlocks another location. Moreover, the hero also jumps on the platforms, faces opponents (using melee weapons or magic bullets), or sneaks behind their backs. This is a non-linear title featuring locations connected by multiple paths.

A two-dimensional platform game developed by the independent studio Causal Bit Games (the creators of 2014 Insanity’s Blade). During the game the player controls princess Madelyn who was forced to fight evil in order to save the kingdom and her family. The gameplay of Battle Princess Madelyn relates to classic titles like Ghosts ’n Goblins and Ghouls ‘n Ghosts. The game focuses on the agility of the player, making him escape traps and jump between platforms while fighting skeletons, demons and big bosses. At the beginning of the game Madelyn lacks any armor and powerful weapons, but she is accompanied by the ghost of a dead dog named Fritzy. After some time the pair gains new weapons and better powers that enable them to, among other things, shoot fire. The levels hide many secrets, including secret areas. The game also features two versions of soundtrack – one references 8-bit consoles and another is a modern version of it.

Edge of Eternity (PC)

RPG 2020

A third person action-RPG combining the most important aspects of Japanese role-playing games with medieval atmosphere and elements of the steampunk subgenre. The game was created by Midgar - an independent French studio, mainly known for mobile apps. The action takes place in Heryon - a fantasy land whose inhabitants have come under the threat of an alien civilization capable of turning both humans and animals into metal monsters. The player assumes the role of a young farmer by the name of Daryon, who is willing to confront the danger. The story is set in three main locations, including a mercantile town, a citadel controlled by the authorities, and ruins of the old capital city. During the journey, the player encounters randomly generated monsters and mutants. The game offers a turn-based combat system enriched with several modern-day mechanics. For instance, the player can spy on the enemies, checking which one is going to take the next action; one can also combine their spells together for a more powerful effect. The creators paid a great deal of attention to the soundtrack, which was composed by Cedric Menendez and inspired by works of Nobuo Uematsu, Jeremy Soul and Hans Zimmer.
