Sid Meier's Covert Action

A simulator of a covert agent’s life, developed by Microprose under the supervision of Sid Meier – the creator of such hits as Silent Service or Pirates!. The main protagonist of the game is a spy named Maximillian (or Maxine if we choose a female character), hired by the CIA to research a dangerous terrorist network. In the following missions we mainly gather information through wiretapping, intercepting secret messages etc. After that, we infiltrate the terrorist hideout and try to acquire as much knowledge about their actions as possible, while remaining unnoticed. Most activities in Sid Meier’s Covert Action are accomplished through various mini-games, where we employ our constantly developed skills in fighting, driving vehicles, cryptography, or hacking.

A 2D platform game created by two indie game developers: Tyler Glaiel (known from Closer) and Edmund McMillen (known from The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy). In The End is Nigh you play as a strange creature called Ash, one of the last beings that survived the end of the world. Traveling through the ruins of civilization, inhabited by bloodthirsty mutants, Ash gathers body parts of the dead to create a friend for himself. The production is a classic 2D platform game, in which you journey through maps full of enemies, gather items, and avoid various dangers. During exploration, which is made easier by the fact that Ash can climb walls, you collect cartridges, which allow you to access various minigames. The game also features many secrets to discovers, several alternative endings, a high difficulty level, and a large dose of black comedy.

The gameplay is based on the mechanisms typical of HOPA games, combining puzzles of the "hidden objects" type with puzzles in the form of mini games.

Another installment of the Carnival Games series, developed by Cat Daddy Games studio with virtual reality sets in mind. Similarly to the previous installments, we are once again left with a set of fifteen arcade mini-games, mostly focusing on throwing various items and shooting moving targets, but we can also find a somewhat simplified basketball or wall climbing among the available modes. Aside from taking part in subsequent games, in Carnival Games VR we can freely traverse an open location introduced in the game. The flames of rivalry are further stoked by the addition of online ranking list, in which we fight for the best results against players from all around the world.

The Lab

A free application developed with virtual reality devices in mind. It was created by Valve Software, the owner of Steam and such franchises as Half-Life, Dota, and Counter-Strike. The Lab is a set of unconnected mini-games that utilize the capabilities of virtual reality. In one of them, the player defends a castle from incoming waves of enemies with a bow. In another, we shoot piles of boxes with a huge sling, while yet another one lets us drive a futuristic vehicle and shoot objects that appear around us. Apart from this kind of fun, The Lab consists of educational programs such as Human Medical Scan, in which we stroll between human body parts, or Solar System that allows us to watch and play with the planets. The Lab presents different setting, depending on the game we play, it could be a cartoonish castle, a meadow, or a futuristic room.
