The success of its sequel, a third-person sandbox game set in the Wild West - Red Dead Redemption - has established the position of the franchise in the video games industry. The game has been developed by Rockstar Games.

Grand Theft Auto V is set in a fictional city of Los Santos (based on Los Angeles). He has to free his friends from the hands of the madmen and find a way back to civilization.

The game takes the players on a journey to various parts of the world, including tropical forests and Miami. In addition to a story campaign, the game features a cooperation multiplayer mode.
