Nintendo Switch is the successor of Nintendo Wii and Wii U consoles and is widely considered to be the first hybrid console on the market. It allows users to play games either at home on a big TV screen or while travelling. This is possible thanks to its revolutionary design, which combines features of both stationary and handheld consoles. It is composed of two main parts: the console unit, which is a 6.2" screen tablet based on Nvidia technology, and the docking station necessary to connect the console to a TV set. Nintendo Switch was released worldwide on March 3, 2017.

Fortnite: Battle Royale (Switch)
Fortnite: Battle Royale (Switch)

Action 12 June 2018

Fortnite: Battle Royale is a free-to-play multiplayer action game developed by Epic Games. The game is based on the battle royale formula and is similar to e.g. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. A hundred players are transported onto an island with almost nothing in their inventory. A player is tasked with finding or looting weapons, traps, and other pieces of gear. The game offers players much leeway - one can run around and shoot as much as he likes, nonetheless, he can also assume the stealth approach, hide in an appropriate spot and eliminate the foes with a sniper rifle. Additionally, one can acquire more resources from buildings, trees, etc. and use them to construct numerous objects such as stairs, covers, and bridges. The only objective a player is tasked with is staying alive until the end of a match. This task is even more difficult due to the fact that the battlefield shrinks continuously. The game has been based on Unreal Engine technology, also used in the production processes of such games as Final Fantasy VII Remake and Tekken 7.

Warframe allows for upgrading and modifying both armors and weapons, but to get the upgrades, you have to do some dangerous tasks. The missions are randomly generated, which additionally enhances the fun.

Doom (Switch)
Doom (Switch)

Action 10 November 2017

The fourth part in one of the most famous FPS franchises in history, originated by id Software Studio in 1993. Since then, the overall story premise remained basically unchanged, having the player take on the role of a sole commando who has to fight hordes of demons from Hell spawned in a military research base as a result of a failed experiment. In contrast to the third game, which featured numerous horror elements, Doom focuses on fast-paced action, thus going back to the roots of the series. The hero learned some brand new skills, including spectacular finishers, making the gameplay even more brutal. One of the landmarks of the franchise is the considerable multiplayer mode, this time enriched with a useful tool called SnapMap. It lets players create not only maps and locations, but also their own play modes – from cooperative battles against enemy hordes to classic Deathmatches.

Paladins: Champions of the Realm (Switch)

Action 12 June 2018

The battles are very fast-paced in any of the several different game modes. The most important is the Siege, in which a great siege engine appears on the battlefield. Furthermore, the game diversifies the experience by adding elements of card games - the players can build card decks. The cards can provide a character with different bonuses, and three of them, selected at random, are available to use during a match.

Major novelties include e.g. new weapons (Splat Dualities), moves (Dodge Roll) and heroes (including refreshed versions of the old crew). Our job is to get from one end of the map to another, eliminating our enemies along the way. We will be facing gangsters, soldiers, zombies, and mutants. Vinnie’s skills and abilities come in handy when doing our job. He can use all sorts of firearms (shotguns, riffles, pistols, etc.), do a double jump, kick, roll, or use two guns at the same time. While playing, we perform various primary and secondary quests, using a rich arsenal or firearms, and the gameplay is enriched with elements of economic simulation that lets us manage the protagonist’s business. The game is realized in retro style and features a large dose of absurd and undiscriminating humor.

DUSK (Switch)

Action December 2018

A game created by Dawid Szymanski, an indie developer, in collaboration with New Blood Interactive. The game represents the action genre and was inspired by the classic games that came out in the 90s. The plot in DUSK is only an excuse for flashy and brutal gameplay, and during the game we have to face hordes of enemies with supernatural abilities. The levels are diverse: we can choose from a modern city infrastructure, through churches, to dark undergrounds. We also have access to various weapons such as pistols, machine guns or grenade launchers, but we can also use sickles and crossbows. Besides the campaign, we can also play in a competitive multiplayer and Endless Survival Mode, in which we have to face subsequent hordes of enemies. Morphies Law (Switch)
Morphies Law (Switch)

Action December 2018

A multiplayer third-person shooter game developed by the independent German Cosmoscope. The action of Morphies Law takes players to a distant future, in which the humankind is a part of history. The only remnants of the human civilization are the buildings they have erected and the humanoid robots - the titular Morphies. A player assumes the role of such Morphy and engages in dynamic team matches governed by quite unusual rules. When shooting at a given adversary's body part, it is reduced, while the player's limb increases. This is well reflected in the gameplay balance (less skilled players are smaller, thus more difficult to hit) and in the possibilities opening before the players during the game. For example, a smaller robot can access previously unavailable locations; however, a machine with long legs can reach areas inaccessible for shorter machines.

Solstice Chronicles: MIA (Switch)
Solstice Chronicles: MIA (Switch)

Action 2019

A continuation to the well-received game The Red Solstice, created by the Ironward studio. Contrary to the original game though, Solstice Chronicles is a typical twin-stick shooter inspired by games such as Alienation or Helldivers. The player's task is to eliminate hordes of enemies, obtaining new weapons and developing the character. The story revolves around a mysterious virus that turns humans into bloodthirsty mutants. A handful of survivors have managed to escape from the Earth and find shelter on the surface of Mars, though many things suggest that the threat followed them. The player's goal is to obtain the medicine and stop the epidemic before it spreads on the entire Red Planet. Four character classes differing in their weapons and skills were included in the game. The player gains access to more powerful abilities when they reach higher character levels. The available weaponry includes rifles which can be acquired at any time, as well as special weapons. The so-called "brutal weapons" are significantly more powerful, but their use is greatly limited. The core of Solstice Chronicles: Missing in Action is the campaign, which can be completed solo, or in the split-screen co-op mode.
