Never Alone (XONE)
Arcade 18 November 2014
A platformer with puzzle game features, developed by Upper One Game studio. Never Alone presents its world from the side perspective, as we traverse vast levels, avoid traps, fight enemies and solve puzzles. The single player campaign lets us switch between the girl and the fox, both of which have unique abilities that are necessary to progress; however, control is split between two players in the cooperation mode. Never Alone features good-looking three-dimensional visuals accompanied by a soundtrack based on traditional Inuit music. Interestingly, the narrator speaks in Inuit language and the dialogue is translated into English through subtitles.
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (XONE)
Adventure 09 December 2014
A continuation of the warmly-received spin-off of the Tomb Raider series in which adventures of beautiful archaeologist are seen from the isometric view, which is unusual for the series. The game is once again developed by Crystal Dynamics and this time the action takes us to Egypt, where you will visit the titular Temple of Osiris as well as some other places. Mechanics have not changed – complemented with characteristic elements of the Tomb Raider series, like exploration and solving puzzles, combat and arcade aspects are emphasized. Gameplay concentrates on cooperation, offering, apart from Lara, three other playable characters of various classes and skills. Interestingly, depending on the number of players, gameplay will be different. More players means more puzzles and more enemies. As the game debuted on the new generation of consoles, visuals are stunning.
Black Mirror (XONE)
Adventure 28 November 2017
A reboot of the popular adventure series of a gothic horror style, developed by KING Art Games. During the adventure, the protagonist discovers details concerning his father, learns about new, unknown-so-far members of his family, and also faces his own nightmares – he is certain that there is a curse on his family, and that eventually he will go insane, just as his predecessors. In Black Mirror, the player travels through depressing locations, chat with NPCs, and solve more or less complicated puzzles – these are similar to those in point-n-click classic adventures. The visions and nightmare hallucinations play crucial roles in the game – once the hero experiences them, he may learn more about his family house’s past. The amazing visuals have faint colours which intensify the gloomy atmosphere.

He must also restore the proper flow of time. The game combines features of an adventure game, a 3D platform game and a logic game. The main focus was placed on solving various environmental riddles, but the game also contains typical action sequences and boss fights, during which the protagonist uses a variety of useful gadgets. The fact that the protagonist is getting older was used as a creative replacement for the classic health bar.

The original game was released for PlayStation in 1996, but due to technical issues, the developers decided to base on the 2002’s remake for the GameCube console. Once again, we witness the origins of the deadly virus created by the Umbrella Corporation, which eventually got out of control. We play as two members of the elite unit S.T.A.R.S., sent in by the authorities to deal with the zombie plague and the crisis caused by it. The Escapists 2 (XONE)
Simulation 22 August 2017
A sequel to the 2015 game by Mouldy Toof which was a unique arcade 2D platformer with elements of logic and RPG productions. In The Escapist 2, the players assume the role of inmates locked up in heavily-guarded prisons, and their task is to work out the security system and to escape. To do so, we have to look for allies and items that can be crafted into useful tools while pretending that we tend to our usual prison routines. Compared to the original, the game features a myriad of enhancements such as new ways of spending spare time, a modified combat system, a possibility of creating previously unavailable items, and new ways of escaping. One of the biggest novelties is the introduction of a drop in/drop out multiplayer mode in which up to four players can play on a split screen or over the Internet.
The Escapists (XONE)
Simulation 13 February 2015
A prisoner simulator that combines features of many genres. It was developed by Mouldy Toof in cooperation with Team 17 Software. The player assumes the role of a prisoner who leads a “normal” life in one of several available penitentiary facilities. The main objective of the game is to plan a way of escaping from the prison. In addition to participating in a series of daily activities like various works, workouts, meals, walks and interactions with other prisoners, the player is also gathering seemingly useless items, looking for allies and observing his surroundings in order to find weak points of security systems. The final phase is to use the previously prepared plan and escape. The Escapist offers great freedom of acting and many ways of escaping depending on prison style (among which there is for example a military prison camp). The game offers retro pixel-art two-dimensional graphics presented from a top-down perspective.
Human: Fall Flat (XONE)
Logic 12 May 2017
An unusual logic action game in which the realistic physics engine is the main element. It was developed by No Brakes Games, a Lithuanian studio. In the game, we are taken to a slightly surreal world from Bob’s dreams, where he has to face his own fears, traversing several lands full of various obstacles. The gameplay mechanics are based mainly on exploration and solving puzzles by manipulating objects in the environment. Everything is governed by the realistic physics engine that manages the behavior of all items and the unusual controls that are characterized by significant inertia of the protagonist. Human: Fall Flat is designed not to impose any specific way of doing things but to reward creativity and the ability to think outside the box.
Outcast: Second Contact (XONE)
Action 14 November 2017
A refreshed version of a third-person perspective action-adventure game from 1999. The remake was prepared by Appeal – a reincarnation of the studio responsible for the original version. Outcast: Second Contact takes place in a science-fiction world, inspired by Stargate – a popular fictional universe, depicted in a number of movies and TV series. When USA sends a research probe into space, the device gets destroyed by the alien race of Talans, creating a black hole which is a direct threat to Earth. To save the world from destruction, humanity sends a group of scientists protected by a seasoned military veteran, Cutter Slade. When it comes to mechanics, the game is a mix of different genres, offering an open world and freedom of exploration, conversation, and performing tasks. Variety is definitely one of the strong points of the game: we face numerous logical puzzles, but dynamic arcade sequences are perhaps the main element of the gameplay. During those, Outcast becomes a classic third-person perspective shooter.

The AI does not reveal anything about what happened at the station and the protagonist tries to solve the mystery on her own. For the most part, the player explores the station and discovers various secrets that slowly build up a larger picture. Consequently, one has to look around carefully in search for different valuables or clues.

The fates of both protagonist intertwine, which lets us see the girl’s journey from a different perspective. Mechanics-wise, Secrets Of The Maw doesn’t introduce any major changes – it is still a dark 2.5D platform game focused on exploration, puzzle-solving, and avoiding attention of grotesque enemies. In the subsequent episodes, we traverse three previously unavailable locations such as an engine room and a flooded lower deck, among others.

She must face not only arcade challenges – like environmental obstacles and enemies to beat – but also puzzles of various kinds, which sometimes can only be solved by manipulating time. Aside from a single player campaign, there is a cooperation mode for two players. A Hat in Time uses three-dimensional, cartoonish visuals, based on the console-exclusive hit The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Logic 09 May 2018
A unique mix of puzzle and arcade game with addition of roguelike’s features. It has been developed by the Canadian team at Illogika Studios. The game takes us to the titular submerged metropolis ruled by sentient machines. We play as a girl named Styx and her faithful companion Dron on their quest for revenge. Subaeria’s gameplay is based on exploration. We observe the 3D world from an isometric perspective, and since the heroine can’t use weapons, she must try to manipulate hostile robots (known as The Cleaners) to make them fight each other. This is where the little drone comes into play, as it can be used to control the robotic adversaries. The gameplay is complemented by good-looking 3D visuals.
Shift Happens (XONE)
Arcade 22 February 2017
A hybrid of a platformer and a logic game, developed by the independent studio Klonk Games. The player takes control of Bismo and Plom – jelly-like humanoid creatures. By some accident, the heroes get literally bound together, which enables them to exchange their masses. Gameplay of Shift Happens consists in traveling through colorful locations, collecting valuable coins, and solving more and less demanding puzzles which require close cooperation between the two heroes. While the heavier one can throw his lighter friend over gaps, the latter can jump higher and access hard-to-reach places. The title is designed for two – you can play via the Internet or in the split-screen mode. However, solo players can enjoy 30 diverse levels and test themselves in time challenges and bonus missions. The title features pleasant graphics with warm colors. The advanced physics engine is surely a great asset - it ensures proper performance of the heroes’ bodies and enables interaction with environment.
