Ziggurat Description
Ziggurat for PC, PS4 and XONE is an unusual old-school dungeon crawler that combines the classic gameplay mechanics with elements of first-person action games. It was developed by the independent Spanish studio Milkstone, the creators of games like White Noise and Little Racers STREET.
Plot
The titular Ziggurat is a Mezopotamian sacred building. Our hero, a neophyte wizard, enters it in order to prove his worth and earn his right to become a powerful sorcerer.
Mechanics
Action in Ziggurat for PC, PS4 and XONE is presented from a first-person perspective. The game itself is really fast-paced. Each storey of the Ziggurat is made of rooms riddled not only with enemies and traps, but also with collectibles and special scrolls that increase our character’s skills. Our hero can use three types of magic: blue, green, and orange, each of them being represented in a form of spell books, staves, and items we can simply throw. Each type of magic has its own energy bar that is easily drained when in battle. The only way of restoring it is to kill enemies that use the same kind of magic.
Just like in many other dungeon crawlers, death in Ziggurat for PC, PS4 and XONE is permanent and we have to start all over again if we die. It has to be mentioned, though, that all items and perks collected and unlocked during our previous playthrough remain in the player’s inventory. As we play, we will also unlock twelve other playable characters, like shaman, alchemist, acrobat, bard, vampire, templar, or librarian.
Technical Aspects
Ziggurat for PC, PS4 and XONE has Warcraft-like, high quality visuals. The game is also humorous in some ways (fighting with angry carrots, for example). Ziggurat’s layout is generated procedurally, giving us almost a new game every time we play it.
