It is set in post-apocalyptic wasteland of a world destroyed by a nuclear war, with players taking roles of survivors who try to survive in this unfriendly environment. During the game we must constantly check our levels of hunger, thirst, and radiation, with the latter being very relevant to the overall condition of our body.

Blockade Runner introduces certain elements found in the cult-classic Minecraft to an interstellar setting, and adds a number of innovative ideas of its own. We begin the adventure by building a spaceship, a procedure which involves adding functional blocks to a metal frame. The vessel is then used to explore the procedurally-generated galaxy where almost any object can be destroyed at will.

One assumes the role of Chuck Greene, who, along with his daughter bitten by one of the titular undead, is trying to find a car with some reserves of Zombreks - a medication that a bitten person has to take every twelve hours in order not to turn into a living dead.
