Downtown Abbey is returning, but not with another season of the series, but with a movie, already the third in the series. It has just been confirmed that we will get another installment of this costumed franchise, for which series creator Julian Fellowes will write the script. Previous movies in the series include 2019's Downton Abbey and 2022's Downton Abbey: A New Era, and work is now underway on the next one.

For now, the release date of Downton Abbey 3 is unknown. The filmmakers haven't even announced what year we can expect the movie in theaters, but given that work on the set has already begun, the release date can't be very far off. Nevertheless, we shouldn’t expect a release this year, 2025 is more likely.
