Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase had a lot of games to get excited about. A few games launched the same day (these have been listed here), and some will arrive before the end of the year. But some of the most exciting games won’t arrive until 2021, so patience will be key.

Independent developers are always working hard to make a unique and fresh gaming experience, which often push the boundaries and conventions, sometimes producing truly memorable and important games. Here are five indie games to look forward to on the Switch due to release in 2021.

Card Shark

It’s 18th century France and it’s time to make your fortune in high-stakes card games. But why leave anything to chance? Card Shark by developer Nerial implements actual card tricks and manipulations into their game.

The game features a unique, almost papercraft art style that underlines a dark, candle-lit tone. Use your ill-gotten gains to continually up the stakes of the card games, and eventually you might even find yourself in a card game with the king.

Brush up on your sleight of hand tricks and keep a few aces up your sleeve, Card Shark launches on the Switch sometime in 2021.
