Power Rangers Like Batman: Arkham That Never Was; Info on Canceled Game

An open world like in the Batman games from Rocksteady, co-op like in Gotham Knights and a new look at the history of the series - that's how the game based on the Power Rangers license could have looked like. Unfortunately, Project Nomad will never see the light of day.

Two years ago, fans of Power Rangers received a fighting game with colorful defenders of Earth (and more). However, apparently Saban (the former owner of the rights to the franchise) was also thinking about an entirely different game. Well, there were plans for a title based on the Power Rangers license in the style of the Batman: Arkham series and the upcoming Gotham Knights: a co-op action game with a huge open-world that would shed new light on the lore. Jason Bischoff, formerly one of the company's directors (now employed at Funko), wrote about the project.

The idea for the so-called Project Nomad was born in 2016 and met with a favorable response from both developers and publishers. In the game, we could follow the lives of multiple Power Ranger groups. Unfortunately, lack of time and budget, as well as changes in company's policy, meant that the adventure of Bischoff and the supporting staff never got beyond "independent" considerations and concept artwork. One of the latter presents - and we quote - "the enslaved [planet - author's note] Eltar being liberated by countless Rangers from across the cosmos". (and a fire-breathing Tyrannosaurus zord).

Bischoff assured that he still has a lot to say about Project Nomad, probably only superlatives. Perhaps it could indeed have been an intriguing, even good title that such a great franchise deserves. But we'll never know. Fans must be satisfied with Battle for the Grid and ambitious plans connected with the development of films and series.
